This stylish Brian DePalma thriller plays off the theme of the unsuspecting witness who discovers a crime and is the thereby put in grave danger, but with a novel twist. While recording new outdoor effects one night, Jack Terri(John Travolta) witnesses a car accident, which he can save only the female occupant, Sally. Jack is certain he has heard a gunshot when a tire explodes and the car plunged into the murky river below, the dead man in the car was a leading political candidate. Jack begins to suspect something when candidate's assistant tells Jack to forget that fact that there war a woman in the car. He begins to unravel the pieces of a nefarious conspiracy. As he struggles to survive against his shadowy enemies and expose the truth, he doesn't know who he can trust.
